		<description>When Verizon Wireless ousted Sprint as exclusive NFL partner and sole provider of the NFL Mobile app, we had to get NFL fans excited. And nothing fires up an NFL fan like the draft. The idea that Verizon Wireless had been drafted by the NFL, and a launch around the 2010 NFL Draft made for quick results. Downloads for the app were so feverish during the launch that they temporarily crashed the servers.



NFL.com Draft Day Takeover
On day one of the NFL draft, visitors to the NFL.com homepage landed on a splash page announcing Verizon as the NFL's #1 pick. There they could link to the microsite and download the new app.

So instead of using Avis’ in-flight magazine media to promise better offers and service to jaded travelers, we suggested we remind them of what travel could be if we all try to look past the growing inconveniences.  ‘Trying’ is something that’s imbedded in the fiber of Avis, so they were uniquely positioned to make a credible call for a renewed attitude.

The Effie winning campaign doubled the number of Verizon subscribers in 5 years. The spots I did for the launch and beyond were some of the most effective and memorable, including two Adweek Best Spots.

With some hidden cameras and some naughty actors, we spent an afternoon tempting travelers at LAX with the fun, flirty car of their dreams. We cut the footage into unbranded teasers to run on travel sites that directed viewers to TheFling.com: a website where you could watch all of the videos, meet the “other car” you’ve always wanted to be with, do a little flirting, and when ready to make a date, jump right to booking on avis.com.
